New Zealand Chapter 2

Busking is something that you see all over New Zealand and is essentially, street performance without pre-qualification.  It can range anywhere from painful guitar playing by a kid looking to earn enough money for a candy bar (which I’ve experienced firsthand) to an unassuming, scruffy young guy, literally rolling up a piano he picked up from the Wanaka recycle center in front of the local grocery store where he proceeded to play the most beautiful and haunting music.  It was so surreal at the end of another dehydrated, sunbleached summer afternoon to hear those sounds reverberating across the grocery carpark…I just had to have a closer look/listen and he was by far the best busker I’d ever heard.  Shot on my Rollei 2.8 with Tri-X pulled 1 stop.
